Arne Hovmand Olsen is a famous Danish furniture designer from the mid 20th century. He was born into an agricultural family in Kirkeby Sogn, Denmark. Due to his interest in drawing from an early age, his family set him up as an apprentice to furniture maker P. Olsen Sibast in 1938. Hovmand-Olsen worked steadily designing furniture for companies such as Alf Juul Rasmussen, A. R. Klingenberg & Søn, Bramin, Elven Geertsen, J.L. Møller, Jutex, Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik, P. Mikklesen, Pedersen & Knap, and Skovmand & Andersen. Sometime in the 1970s, he was forced to close his studio due to illness. Hovmand-Olsen passed away in Arne Hovmand-Olsen teak, brass and lacquered desk, circa early 1960s.
